1 March – MartiniDogShow

After a weekend of international canine competition, the MartiniDogShow culminates in a final day of judging and exhibitions at MartiniPlaza in Groningen. Part of a double CAC/CACIB show weekend, this event brings together over 1,100 dogs a day representing more than 225 breeds from across Europe, each evaluated by national and international judges. 12 March – OMG Open Mic (Stand-up Comedy in English)

OMG Open Mic brings an evening of English-language stand-up to Lust, featuring eight comedians trying out fresh material in a relaxed, international atmosphere. It’s a great pick for expats, students, and anyone who enjoys live comedy, with doors opening at 19:30 and the show running into the evening.

12 March – De Grote Jaren ’80 Show

De Grote Jaren ’80 Show brings all the nostalgia, energy and iconic hits of the 1980s to MartiniPlaza for an evening of retro entertainment. Featuring some of the decade’s biggest acts and tribute performances, the show celebrates timeless pop, rock and dance classics that defined a generation. With colourful costumes, sing-along anthems and lively stage production, the event offers a fun night out for fans with the best ’80s music.

14 March – Groningse Nieuwe #145: Winnaars Beste Groninger Film 2025

Forum Groningen presents Groningse Nieuwe #145 — Winnaars Beste Groninger Film 2025, a special screening showcasing the winning films from the Beste Groninger Film competition. After the awards ceremony, the prize-winning films, selected for their creativity, craftsmanship and connection to the Groningen region, are shown together on the big screen, giving audiences a unique chance to experience the best of recent local cinema in one programme.

14 March – FIRST LEGO League

Martiniplaza becomes the meeting point for young tech talent during the national final of FIRST LEGO League, bringing dozens of teams from across the Netherlands to Groningen. Teams present creative solutions and technical skills through challenges focused on teamwork, research and design, creating a lively competition atmosphere. Alongside the matches, visitors can explore an Experience Area with hands-on tech and robotics activities, making it an inspiring outing for families, students and curious minds. Entry is free.

27–29 March – Lentefestival Oosterparkwijk

The Oosterparkwijk welcomes spring with its annual Lentefestival, a lively three-day neighbourhood celebration full of music, theatre, street acts, family fun and tasty food, and best of all, it’s free to attend. Taking place on the square by the JOP on Klaprooslaan, the festival features performances for all ages, street theatre, live music, carnival-style games, children’s attractions and plenty of eating and drinking options. Organised by the local residents’ association with the help of dozens of volunteers, the Lentefestival is held to bring people together and let the community enjoy the start of the season in a colourful and welcoming setting.

28 March – Hartwerk Festival

The Hartwerk Festival celebrates the grand reopening of the renovated Floresplein and Floresstraat with a joyful neighbourhood festival in the De Hoogte and Korrewegwijk districts. Around the newly redesigned square, locals and visitors can explore a Buurbazaar market showcasing creations by community makers, enjoy street theatre and music, tasty food and drink, and take part in activities for all ages: from trying out projects in the neighbourhood to watching live performances. The event also marks the official reveal of community art, new walking routes and colourful murals enriching the local culture.

28 March – Fashion Dag – Voorjaarseditie

Fashion Dag – Voorjaarseditie invites visitors to Haren for a day celebrating the start of the spring fashion season. Held around the Dorpskerk, the event features multiple runway shows throughout the day that showcase the latest trends and styles from local boutiques and designers. Shoppers can explore a wide range of clothing, accessories, and curated fashion pieces while soaking up the lively atmosphere of this charming retail destination.

29 March – AutoMadness Assen

AutoMadness returns to the TT Circuit Assen with the largest car meeting in the Netherlands, attracting over 3,000 cars and motorcycles to the paddocks for a full day of automotive spectacle. From supercars and performance machines to classic cars and custom-tuned builds, visitors can explore an immense variety of vehicles up close, watch thrilling dragraces, and enjoy the highlight Hour of Power showcase on the straight.
