About us

Hi, I’m Arian.

I moved to the Netherlands in 2022 and quickly realized how easy it is to miss what’s actually happening around you, especially if you don’t speak Dutch fluently.

So, I founded what began as Groningen Mail, a small local newsletter, has now grown into The Dutch Brief, a national, English-language publication that covers news, culture, politics, innovation, and more from across the Netherlands. Everything is written to be clear, concise, and worth your time.

Today, we are one of the leading English-language news outlet for internationals and expats in the Netherlands, with over 2,000,000 monthly views across platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Our audience includes students, expats, and professionals who value accessible, localized content.

This project has always welcomed community involvement. If you’re interested in writing or collaborating, please send an email to [email protected].

One last thing…
If you’re not seeing our emails, check your Spam or Promotions tab and move us to your primary inbox so you don’t miss a story.
