Today, pedestrians and cyclists will once again be able to cross the Visserbrug without taking a detour, as the temporary replacement bridge is set to open. The original Visserbrug has been out of service since July, when it was removed for repairs after a broken hinge was discovered, making it unsafe to operate. The repairs are expected to take one and a half to two years.
The temporary bridge, installed two weeks ago, had some final work done before being made available for use. It is a movable sliding bridge, allowing both pedestrians, cyclists, and shipping traffic to continue without disruption.
