A bus caught fire and was completely destroyed in Drenthe on Monday morning. Thanks to the driver’s quick response, everyone got off safely before the flames took over. No injuries were reported.
What happened
The fire broke out around 9:15am on the N371 near the village of Hoogersmilde. The vehicle was an articulated (extended) bus operated by Qbuzz, running line 20 between Steenwijk and Assen.
Regional reports say the driver saw smoke and quickly stopped the bus at the Oranjekanaal junction, helping everyone get off. Within minutes, the bus was covered in flames and thick black smoke, burning down to its frame. Despite the intense fire, everyone got out safely and no injuries have been reported.
