On 8 March, Lean In Groningen and Women Devs, two local communities created by and for women, will once again join forces to host a free event celebrating International Women’s Day.

The theme for 2025, ‘Accelerate Action,’ emphasizes breaking barriers and addressing biases to achieve gender equality in every aspect of life. The event will create a space for meaningful conversations on how we can collectively drive change. Everyone is welcome!

This marks the third edition of the event, which began as a successful online conference in 2022 and transitioned to an in-person gathering last year. Building on the momentum of its previous successes, this year’s celebration will take place at MeetLAB in Groningen.

Speakers and topics

As always, the English-language programme features a diverse lineup of speakers:

  • Astrid Cantineau, gynaecologist at the UMCG, specialist in reproductive medicine

  • Jorgen Raymann - stand-up comedian, presenter, women’s rights advocate

  • Emily van Putten - cyber security expert and DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) advocate

  • Beatriz Noheda - Physicist, professor of functional nanomaterials at the UG
